The Finding Health Project
Taking the work into life
The Finding Health Project is a continuation of the work that I do as a craniosacral therapist. As we learn more about ourselves, it’s really helpful to move it out of the individual session and practice to embed the learning into our everyday lives, especially within the context of relating to other people.
To provide a structure for this work, I offer a programme of four half day workshops called WORKSHOPS FOR CHANGE, each with a different theme but all working towards the same goal - which is provide a safe space to explore and practice ways of becoming more integrated and resilient in mind, body and soul. They can be booked together or individually.
Self discovery with others
We humans live in a sea of relationships, we have a biological imperative to connect safely and confidently with others in order to feel complete and valued. In the classes and workshops we focus on identifying, embodying and then integrating the relationships that support safety, resilience and freedom of expression. We provide an open framework for assisted self discovery in the company of others.
Finding balance
Health can be seen as an expression of an optimal functional balance or an integration of all the different aspects of human experience. This means we should not only be concerned with physical health but also the psychological, emotional, relational and spiritual aspects of ourselves. The workshops and classes aim to create the kind of safe social spaces and the real life experiences that foster the growth, development and maturation of these parts.
Curiosity is key
Central to the work is the cultivation of the spirit of mindful enquiry/curiosity. This approach can transform the perception of a state of fear, which is highly reactive and limiting, into a state which is open to change by virtue of the willingness to examine it. Curiosity, by definition implies a ‘moving towards’ and a desire to understand. The curiosity mindset tends to automatically subdue the reactive quality of fear and allow an expansion into creativity, trust and self confidence.
I see each class as a little adventure, an exploration of aspects of what it means to have a moving, feeling body.
Safety and agency
The bedrock of the work is the cultivation of a sense of internal safety and agency, which allows us the confidence to explore ourselves in order to understand ourselves. And the point of it all really is just to feel good about being here, in relationship to everything else.
