How I Work
I like to hold the sessions with warmth and a sense of ease
The work we do is important but everything is held lightly. I might even go so far as to say there is a sense of playfulness about it. We try to stay open and curious, we hold things with a gentle touch and find the easiest way through – that to me is a lovely way to work.
Guiding you through
So all I do is to provide the space for this process to unfold. It’s simple, beautiful and honest. I really cannot know the best way for you to do your own work, but I do know how to hold you and guide you in that process. I love the creativity of working in the unfolding moment, and that’s where the power of craniosacral therapy lies.
Sessions
Case history
The first session will always include taking a case history from you, so that I can get an idea about how things have been for you, how they are now, and how you would like them to be.
The session
Each session is usually one hour long and begins with a chat about how you are and what you would like to hold as an intention. We then move to the treatment couch where we take time to get you comfortable. The hands on part of the work involves making light physical contact with different parts of the body.
This would typically be feet, head, spine, sacrum, but anywhere really, depending on where the focus needs to be. Contact is always negotiated and always with consent.
Mindful dialogue
I will usually work at between two and four different places during the treatment. We work in a quiet and mindful state, but there is also usually dialogue between us as we work. So for example I might ask questions about what you might be feeling - so it’s not a ‘precious’ kind of silence.
After the session
After the session we will usually have a brief discussion about how it was and how we felt about it.
Most people report feeling calm, centred and more organised directly after a session, but the feeling often deepens over the next few days as the experience is digested and integrated.
